Fear, we all have it but what do we do with it? This is something that we all face and the difference is that some of us will push through. We push through for different reasons. I used this picture because arachnophobia is something a lot of people have fear of it.
Johnny
Sing 2 illustrated this well with Johnny (some spoilers) and a Clip below or Click Here. This is not the best because it is not in order but the best that I could find.
Johnny is in a dance battle and it is my favorite scene. It starts off with him playing the piano. He looks up and sees his antagonist a baboon and fear hit him hard. Throughout the whole movie, this baboon has been telling him how bad he is. After working with this baboon he found another teacher in a lynx.
This was his mentor and after he saw the baboon in the scene he found the lynx and confidence flooded back. Again, he was good and ready to do the fight scene. But the baboon came out as his challenger instead of the other person a tiger. Confidence was gone again. But this time he did not have time to find the lynx.
Ultimately he lost the battle and that was not written in the show they were doing. As Johnny lays on the ground defeated and the music fades. I know I have been there, not a dance battle, laying on my back wondering how this happen and thinking I was ready. Then the lynx starts a beat and Johnny gets up and starts singing again. I have also felt when someone came along to help, how it was easier to do what I needed. In the end, beating the Baboon who yields.
Fear and the lesson
Now we all have our own baboon to face. We have to know how to face it. Johnny needed to know his mentor was there. You might need a partner, pump-up song, or some time to think. Our lynx might look different but we all have one or two. We have heard that fear is paper-thin but it will have you believe that it is something that you cannot move. As you start to break through you will find out that you can do it.
We all have different fear and ways around or through them. Take some time to think about what it is for you so the next time you face it you will be ready.
Now I would love to hear what you do to get through your fear. Drop a comment below or hear over to the Contact Us page.
