Hello, again I was thinking today about how all the best things in life are uphill. I read this from John Maxwell and was thinking about how that is true. Everything good in life is uphill. Here is a link to what John Maxwell has to say about this as well (click here)
Relationships, getting a better job, working out… these are a few that came to mind. With my wife, we are coming up on 6 years of marriage and they have been good years. But some have been hard and in the end, after those hard times, we have gotten better. As we work on our relationship it is uphill to make it better.
My Uphill Journey
With getting a better job. There is so much involved. The resume needs to be up to date. Applying for many jobs hoping to land some interviews. When you do get the interviews now it is about how you answer the questions. If you are to get the job all the training that you will have to do. This is uphill and can be challenging.
Another thing that I know about is working out. This is an uphill battle and that starts sometimes with getting to the gym. Yet, after working out I always feel better, unless I get hurt. That only happens after I have let myself slide and not worked out in a while. Improving myself always is uphill.
Having this mindset has helped me out in the last few months. This has allowed me to know that whenever I am going to improve myself I am expecting some work. I know that I will not one day find myself better. Like it happened and I have no idea how. I will know the work that I put in to get to where I am at.
Knowing where you start
There is also satisfaction with knowing where I am now and where I was. It is best to pick an area or two to improve in that you are willing to walk uphill to get to the top. For me, this has been a crawl at times but I was moving forward. I have picked a few areas in my life that I do this with.
The first is my relationship with my family. The second would be my source of income to provide for them. The last area would be my faith and you do not have to have this one but that is what I have picked. I know that my family has helped me with this and has been there for me. Here is a link to my mom’s webpage and she has been able to help many people that have needed something different (click here). These are the three things I am willing to climb uphill for to make sure they are the best they can be in my life.
To wrap this up the main reason that I said that is the way that we want it would be because if it was easy everyone would do it. This makes it very easy to see who is working on themselves and who we should be spending time with. I am always looking for people that will help me be better and I know if someone has worked on themself then I want to know what they know.
I would love to hear what you would pick for the things you are willing to climb uphill for.
