Communication has never been easier with text, calls, emails, and direct messaging. But has it become any better? I would think not. Many say that we are more “connected” now than ever but then why are people so lonely?
I would say that even if there are more ways to connect I do not think that people are making a connection. It all starts with communication. This is the art of making a point but also listening. You can look up all the points of active listening, but those will not help if you do not take a genuine interest in the person.
Communication Nuts and Boltz
For communication, you need to know what works best for you. It might change depending on the situation but overall what is the best way to contact you? It could be that you are best to set a time via text or maybe you are great with a call out of the blue.
The sender of the message also needs to think about what is the best way to send this. Do they need to hear my voice or is text going to work? How urgent is the message that you are trying to communicate? All these things should be considered when communicating with someone.
Conclusion
Overall it is important for both the sender and the receiver to do their part. If one does not then the message could be misunderstood. There is not a surefire way to make sure the other person is doing their part but you should control what you can. Control how you send and receive messages.
