Finally Friday and What You Focus On Grows

Focus

Focus, and in this age, it is hard to focus on one thing for a short amount of time without our phone dinging. The stimulation is hard to get away from. But what we focus on will grow.

This is easy to see in the negative. As when we focus on a bad situation we tend to see it get worse. However, if we take a minute and focus on the good things the situation does not seem as bad.

For example, I was riding my motorcycle yesterday and hit some gravel. I was thrown from my motorcycle and I watched it crash. As I was laying on the pavement I realized nothing was broken and I had not been hit. It was a bummer to have to repair my motorcycle but I was ok (the motorcycle was better than I thought as well).

Directing Focus

So how do I direct focus? In reality, we can tell our brain what to think. Creating a habit of changing our focus is something that we will need to do as more things in our world are negative.

Creating a reaction of a positive thought when I am staring down the negative path. I have done things like, on the lock screen of my phone I have put motivating pictures or phrases. Many times saying something out loud will have a greater impact as you will hear yourself. These are just a few ways that can help.

Overall, this is something that should be taught to kids to help them better prepare for their future. How our world would be different if people were taught to focus on the positive things. Here is a post I found about this as well Click Here.

I would love to hear how you are going to change your focus. Drop a comment below or head over to the Contact Us page.
